The Firm was founded in 1985 by a small group of attorneys from major Philadelphia
firms and government practice. The Firm's senior litigators, who began to practice
in the late 1960s and 1970s, gained much of their early experience in antitrust
and securities cases. That experience taught them how to handle class action
and other complex litigation.
The Firm began its practice as national counsel for a major building products
manufacturer in asbestos property damage litigation. We used our senior litigators'
experience in handling complex litigation to manage a coordinated nationwide
defense in state and federal courts across the country. The depth of our
attorneys' experience enabled us efficiently to manage this complex, document
intensive litigation and create a sophisticated, streamlined defense. We
became particularly skilled in selecting and working with experts to marshal
the medical-scientific evidence on which the defense of modern toxic tort
claims is based. Notably, we obtained defense verdicts in the first two asbestos
property damage cases ever tried to conclusion before juries and went on
to earn a successful win-loss record in this litigation.
Since the early years of the Firm, when the major part of our business
was in the toxic torts litigation area, our practice has steadily grown
and diversified. The Firm is skilled in complex civil and litigation at
both trial and appellate levels in courts throughout the United States.
